Schutzhund training in Germany - 1985
Schutzhund training is almost unknown among Boxers, other than on the Continent. It is most widespread in Germany, where the number of Boxers in Schutzhund training is only exceeded by German Shepherd dogs. So what is Schutzhund training? It entails what most would understand as obedience training, along with attack and hold training as required by police dog handlers, plus tracking.
Obviously, the temperament of the Boxer has to be top notch to have any hope of achieving the accolade of passing his Schutzhund training and temperament is held in the highest regard to most Continental breeders to the extent that markings matter very little in their breeding programme. Not only do the Continental Boxers have an overall better temperament (IMHO) the added bonus of their lines is that they produce very few white puppies.
These extracts of Boxer Dogs on the Continent, taken around the mid nineteen eighties, have been substantially reduced in quality to download quickly, in the hope that you can at least enjoy the flavour of the originals.
